I’ve been called creative all my life. And past that I’ve always used the word creative to describe all of my friends. There is something that draws me to surround myself with brilliant people. People that wake up and have something that fuels their being. People that see the world differently. People that are imaginative. People that are VISIONARIES.
A quote from my favorite poem, ‘Our Deepest Fear‘, says it best,”as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
Creative people liberate me and push me to be a better creative.
Meet Alan.
Alan is a Creative Strategist from Durango, Mexico who was apart of the MAIP program with me. And if we each had a sticker on our head that had a word to describe us TALENTED would be on his. He’s a jack of all trades. Really.
There were so many moments this summer where I was exhausted, but there was Alan somewhere near me working just as hard if not harder. He would always suggest how my work could be that much better. And although I found his suggestions annoying at times, I really do appreciate having a friend like him to tell me how it is and push me to be better.
Alan has already done so many awesome things one of which happened this summer during MAIP. Alan was apart of the team that created Small Billboards for Big Causes. Such a cool initiative to bring light and advertising to non-profits that don’t have as big of a platform.
And on top of his internship he did tons of AMAZING photo shoots for people in MAIP. Stylish Sista included. (Those will be in the next post)
So thanks Alan, for being great competition this summer and an even better friend. By you being an amazing creative, I was liberated to do the same.
