Proud to introduce you all to the newest woman of the #SeeHer portrait study – Magali M. (aka Mami) (@m_enid_28)
“It was difficult to find any photo of my mother by herself and i feel like this says a lot about the type of woman she is. She always finds her way into my poetry. This is mainly because whenever I write about any personal experience, she is in some way tied to it. My mother used to frustrate me because she would never allow herself any “her-TIME.” But I learned that this is one of the things that make her phenomenal. Rather than continue writing my reasons, i want to include one of many poems* that i have written about her. This poem demonstrates her story of migration, but also her story of RESILIENCY that is responsible for where i am today and will continue to go.
The photo I have included of my mother is when she was pregnant with me. She talks about the life my brother and I give her, but all I see is all of the life she has brought into this world. My mother is a story waiting to be told.”
* As Claritza is trying to get her poem published I am unable to share it with you guys at this time. Know that it is a beautiful poem. I bawled like a baby reading it and can’t wait until it is published so I can share it with you all.
